Encompassing 0.70 hectares of this small and precious lieu-dit, Meursault Les Rougeots features clay and limestone soils, with some of the oldest vineyards dating back to the 1940s. The 99’ vintage resembles the 96’ vintage, showcasing an explosive character with a refreshing crispness. This wine is truly delightful.

The 1999 Meursault Rougeots exhibits crisp pear, spice, and mineral aromas. This hugely expressive, medium-bodied wine has outstanding amplitude to its imposing, chewy-textured, and velvety personality. Toast, liquid minerals, and spices can be found throughout its impressive, powerful character and finish.

The 1999 Meursault Les Rougeots is a vintage that I have not encountered since 2003. I loved it then - I love it now. It shows less reduction than the 2006 on the nose: citrus lemon, custard creams, grilled walnut and orange peel all contributing to its complexity. The palate is beautifully balanced with a killer line of acidity, notes of walnut and sesame infusing the citrus fruit with a very intense, detailed finish that is a joy to behold. It is a brilliant wine and will last a few years yet. tasted at La Paulée in Beaune.
