The 1997 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru has an open and well-defined bouquet, demonstrating more red fruit than the 1996. There are plenty of sous-bois and crushed strawberry scents, ethereal and "airy" in style. The palate displays superb delineation and fine-boned structure, yet there is a sense of solidity. Lightly spiced with a harmonious saline finish, this is just sashaying along with style. Never the finest Les Amoureuses from Mugnier, but just delicious to drink. Tasted at the Les Amoureuses vertical at Hide restaurant.
