The 1990 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Pruliers 1er Cru has very fine definition on the nose considering the warmth of this growing season, scents of rose petal and violet, not quite as harmonious as the very best Gouges that I have tasted, but warm and cozy. The palate is medium-bodied, more tart than I would have anticipated, fresh and energetic, a rare 1990 red Burgundy with a spring in its step. With time the aromatics begin to coalesce and you are entranced by its bravura and energy. Excellent and drinking perfectly now. Tasted at the Gouges retrospective at La Cabotte.
