Starting in the early 2000s, Jean-Marc Roulot of Domaine Roulot in Meursault began a negociant label to create wines from terroirs that he did not own. Originally started with a Bourgogne Blanc and varied Meursault wines, Jean-Marc has crafted elegant Puligny-Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne...and even made some borderline-addictive eau-de-vie!

Ever-curious and never satisfied, Jean-Marc has utilized his micro-negoce label to craft wines from vineyards outside of his home base of Meursault. He does not buy finished juice, but rather grapes, often from vineyards that he has done all of the farming for from bud to harvest and beyond. The winemaking follows the same methodology as the Domaine wines, which is dogmatic about quality control - very little new oak, few rounds of batonnage and aging in both barrel and stainless. Often the labels will be a dead ringer for the Domaine wines, only to read "Jean-Marc Roulot" in place of "Domaine Roulot"; having the ability to play with additional vineyards - including Grand Crus Corton-Charlemagne and Chevalier-Montrachet - is too grand an opportunity to pass up!
