(four of the seven barrels were new prior to the racking, at which point the wine was put into all older barrels; 60% vendange entier): Good full red. Red cherry, cranberry, rose petal and sweet oak on the nose. Silky on entry, then tighter in the middle, even a bit hard-edged, with black fruit and licorice flavors carrying through to a firmly tannic, gripping, youthfully tough finish. This sappy, dense wine, a blend of roughly two-thirds Charmes and one-third Mazoyères, has the energy to support a leisurely evolution in bottle.
