The 2015 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico delle Fontane takes its time opening in the glass, at first dusty and grumbling, with dried red berries and nuances of spice. Further coaxing unlocks notes of black currant, peppery herbs and crushed violets. It’s fleshy in style, yet lifted and spry, with a mix of ripe strawberries offset by salty minerals and a twang of sour citrus. This becomes incredibly floral through the mouthwatering finale, where sweet tannins mingle with hints of licorice and rose. What a remarkably pretty Cerasuolo di Vittoria. It’s a blend of 60% Nero d"Avola and 40% Frappato from the best parcels of the COS vineyards in the Fontane area of Vittoria.
