The 2020 Bianco Versante Nord is distinctly savory and mineral in style, wafting up with notes of stone dust, crushed almond and young peach. It’s soft-textured, almost oily in feel, with a core of saline-tinged acids that cut through like a laser, allowing orchard fruits and pretty inner florals to cascade throughout. The 2020 finishes long yet subtle, hinting at Asian pear and green melon. The Versante Nord is a co-fermented field blend of 50% Minnella and 50% Carricante, Catarratto, Grecanico and Inzolia. It won’t be for everyone, but those who enjoy esoteric, old-school-styled Italian whites will love it.
